Als großen Erfolg kann man das Debütalbum der britischen Band Lanterns On The Lake unter marktspezifischen Gesichtspunkten sicherlich nicht bezeichnen – dennoch konnte ‘Gracious Tide, Take Me Home‘ nicht nur uns verzaubern, sondern auch viele andere Kritiker und Fans. So ist die Vorfreude auf das am 9. September erscheinende Zweitwerk ‘Until The Colours Run‘ ungehemmt und groß. Zwar musste sich die Band aufgrund des Ausscheidens der Brüder Adam und Brendan Sykes und der damit verbundenen Ankunft des neuen Bassisten Andrew Scrogham etwas neu sortieren und auch die restlichen Umstände bei der Produktion des neuen Album waren aufgrund finanzieller Engpässe nicht die besten – doch wer solche Wiederstände überwindet, erzeugt häufig auch Werke, die gehört werden sollten. So wie beispielsweise auch die erste Single ‘Another Tale From Another English Town‘, die schon zeigt, dass die Band dieses Mal auch in politischer Hinsicht Standpunkte vertritt. Sängerin Hazel Wilde dazu: “I think the way things are going in this country, it’s going to be hard for people not to write music that carries some of that weight. While we were making the record, a lot of our friends were losing their jobs and there were some drastic cuts being made, especially in our part of the world.” Auch wenn schon das Debütalbum ziemlich melancholisch war, muss man jetzt nicht ein noch schwereres Album erwarten – dazu Wilde: “For me the album is also bursting with a huge amount of colour and life that reaches out from the darkness. Like the lyric, ‘so we’ll drink and we’ll sing on the breadline.’ It almost celebrates the feeling of there being nothing left to lose whilst we made the record. It feels like there is a story that runs through the songs, a personal journey through modern life – hope, despair, love and desperate times.”
