Seinen großen internationalen Durchbruch hatte der Frames-Frontmann Glen Hansard mit dem Film ‘Once‘, in dem er einerseits die eine der beiden Hauptrollen übernahm, aber gleichzeitig auch mit seiner Film-Partnerin Markéta Irglová als The Swell Season den Soundtrack beisteuerten und letztlich sogar für den Song ‘Falling Slowly‘ den Oscar abräumten. 2013 folgte die erfolgreiche und mit Preisen prämierte Musical-Adaption des Films…und dieser Tage nun endlich die Ankündigung des neuen, zweiten Solo-Werks Hansards! Zumindest ein ganzes Stück Arbeit steckt wohl in diesem, dauerte die Produktion doch fast drei Jahre, in denen das Album in New York, Dublin, Chicago und Frankreich in Zusammenarbeit mit Thomas Bartlett (The National, Sufjan Stevens) und David Odlum (Paloma Faith, Tinariwen) entstand. Hansard selbst sagt dazu: “I feel I’ve really dug deep for these songs, and I’ve been chasing specific ideas asking myself ‘what is it I’m trying to say with this line or idea?’ One would hope that through all of this that you find your voice. And, amazingly, you might find it in the smallest gesture of a song.”
Erscheinen soll ‘Didn’t He Ramble‘ am 18. September via ANTI-Records und schon heute gibt es mit ‘Winning Streak‘ das Video zur ersten Single daraus!
