We put the Feier in Feiertag – denn was gibt es schöneres als statt im Büro zu sitzen und zu schuften, einfach sich mal einen neuen Song und die Vorfreude auf ein neues Album von Metronomy zu gönnen? Drum Stress aus, Füße hoch und Video ab. Lately ist dabei der erste Vorbote aus dem Album der Band um Frontmann und Mastermind Joe Mount, der zuletzt schon als Co-Writer und Produzent von Robyns Album Honey an sechs Songs mitarbeitet hat und auch bei Jessie Wares Song Adore You die Hände im Spiel hatte. Mit dem neuen Album, das im Herbst erscheinen soll, hat Mount auch noch nicht genug Kreativität verblasen, sodass er auch noch selbst die Idee und Regie zum Video des ersten neuen Songs seit dem 2016er Summer 08-Album der Band übernommen hat. Es lehnt sich dabei am 80iger Kultfilm Liebling, ich habe die Kinder geschrumpft an oder wie er selbst beschreibt: “This music video is a pop promo in the grand tradition of pop promos: End of school on a Friday afternoon, Mysterious little people that live in a cassette tape, concerned parents and special FX. The song and video are both about growing up. I’ve absolutely loved taking the opportunity to direct our own music videos. I have quite strong opinions on what music videos are for in 2019 and how they should be presented and this has been a chance for me to put my money where my mouth is! The most impressive thing I’ve realised is how much of a group effort creating a music video is. I’ve always known it, but this time I’ve obviously worked much closer with the various characters, involved in every department. So, thank you to them.”
