In Berlin hat sich der Songwriter Sami Simon seine ganz eigene Wohlfühloase geschaffen, irgendwo tief in seinem Inneren, wo seine Texte und Melodien entstehen, solange bis sie aus ihm herausbrechen. Schon seit seiner Kindheit, gestaltet er sich sein gedankliches Hinterzimmer aus, aufgrund von einer schweren Krankheit und seinem charakterlichen Wesens als introvertierter Typ. Das Studium wurde später geschmissen, da es ihn vielmehr Fesseln anlegte als, dass er sich dort kreativ austoben konnte – was sich wohl gelohnt hat! Zumindest erschien im April nun endlich die erste EP Edges und daraus feiert heute das neue Video zum Song The Dreams We Had Premiere bei uns. Der Musiker selbst sagt zum Song/Video folgendes:

“The whole record, especially the last song on it The Dreams We Had is a reminiscence to your memories, to everything that has been and that you dreamed what could have been. To bliss as well as to the trouble you went through – because trouble is what makes bliss meaningful at last. I wrote the song after coming back from a summer vacation in Italy with a woman I was in love with back then. It felt like on of the moments that you can figuratively see the road ahead of you split in two or more possible directions and you are to choose one and while knowing, each of them will have different consequences. For the video itself I wanted to evoke that kind of feeling like when you say to a close friend, „Do you remember, the old times?“ Since it is a no-budget production I decided to compile material from old movies to get that kind of vintage vibe. I tried to cut and arrange the scenes as if they told a coherent story. The result turned out to be a bit patchy and cheesy but I like it, it think it is also kind of charming.“
