Wir schreiben Anfang der Nullerjahre – Elektro ist das Maß der Dinge, in den Clubs pumpen die Bässe und eines der führenden Labels des Hypes ist das französische Label Ed Banger Records, das vom damaligen Daft Punk-Manager Busy P ins Leben gerufen wurde. Neben ihm selbst veröffentlichen DJs und Acts wie Justice, Breakbot, Mr. Oizo, Cassius, Feadz oder auch Sebastian auf dem Label und sorgen für exzessive Partys rund um den Klobus. Mit Sebastian kehrt nun einer der bekanntesten Acts des Labels zurück und kündigt heute den Nachfolger seines 2011er Debütalbums Total für Herbst 2019 an. Nachdem er zuletzt schon bei Produktionen Frank Ocean, Kavinsky, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Woodkid und Co unterstützt hat und Remixe für Acts wie Daft Punk, Kelis oder The Kills veröffentlicht hat, also endlich wieder eigenes Material des Franzosen! Und wie sich das anhört? Davon zeugt schon mal die neue Single Run For Me feat Gallant, über die Sebastian selbst sagt:

“Emotionally speaking, I’d say this is the most ‘literal’ song on the album, in the sense that I wasn’t looking to express anything intellectual, because what you feel when you listen to it is pretty straightforward. Once I’d finished it, I realised that structurally this is a sort of pop song that’s a story within a story. These tracks feel like you’re crossing several different sceneries, but all from the same landscape. We made it in one day, in one take without stopping. The melody evolved wherever it seemed to want to go all by itself. I tracked Gallant down for the vocals because he shared the same power and logic that the song aimed to have and I wasn’t disappointed. The song really came into its own when the vocals were laid down on the track.”

Für das Video konnte Todd Tourso als Regisseur gewonnen werden, der zuvor schon mit Beyoncé, N.E.R.D., Rihanna und Future gearbeitet hat – es lohnt sich!
