Manchmal gibt es sie noch diese unglaublichen Momente, wenn man auf eine neue Band hört und direkt von deren musikalischen Schönheit überwältigt ist. So passiert letztes Jahr bei dem Auftritt von Blanco White, das in London beheimatete Projekt von Josh Edwards. Schon fast schüchtern, werden da überschwänglich arrangierte Songs präsentiert die ihre unglaubliche Wucht sofort freisetzen. Absolute Gänsehaut.
Bisher veröffentlichte die Band die drei EPs Nocturne EP (2018), Colder Heavens EP (2017) und The Wind Rose EP (2016). Jetzt gibt es nicht nur eine neue Single, mitsamt Video, sondern auch eine Tour im Oktober.
Blanco White über den Song:
“‘On the Other Side’ was the first of a series of songs written near Tarifa on the southern tip of Spain last winter,” erzählt Josh. “It was inspired by a conversation with a friend recovering from serious illness; I wanted to portray that hardship by creating darkness in the tones and textures of the song. Flamenco rhythms begin to appear in the second half. For me flamenco can often feel mournful and fierce at the same time, and I wanted to try and capture that in the arrangement.”
