Um das wohl bekannteste Projekt des britischen Produzenten Derwin Schlecker – Gold Panda – ist es seit 2016 und der Veröffentlichung der EP Your Good Times Are Just Beginnen ruhig geworden. Zwar hat er mit Jas Shaw von Simian Mobile Disco das neue Kollaborationsprojekt Selling mitsamt dem Debütalbum On Reflection aus der Taufe gehoben oder auch ein House/Hip-Hop-Album als DJ Jenifa selbstveröffentlicht – doch nun gibt es endlich auch wieder News unter der Flagge des Hauptprojekts. Denn mit Transactional Relationship gibt es die erste Lebenszeichen von Gold Panda seit 2016, arbeitet Schlecker doch derzeit im Studio an einem neuen Selling-Album und auch an mehr neuen Gold Panda Songs. Der neue Song selbst baut auf einem Sample des Hilary Woods Songs Sever auf – Gold Panda selbst sagt dazu: “I made the track at home. I had a track nearly done and I’d bought the Hilary Woods LP after seeing her support Low at the Barbican and decided to give it a play during a tea break. There were bits that went really well with what I’d made so I decided to chop parts up in my mpc and layered them over my track, thus ruining Hilary’s song for evermore. I did a sort of “live take” and that was it.”
