In der heutigen Zeit ist durch die Vernetzung des Internets so einiges möglich – erläutert anhand des Beispiels der Band Francis of Delirium: Da gründet die Künstlerin Jana Bahrich aus ihrem Schlafzimmer in Kanada heraus ihre Band Francis of Delirium, später stößt noch der Schlagzeuger/Produzent Chris Hewett aus Seattle hinzu, gefolgt von Bassist Jeff Hennico und weil es eh schon so schön international ist, siedelt man kurzerhand nach Luxemburg um. Von dort aus entwickelt das Trio nun ihren Sound, inspiriert von Künstlern wie Joni Mitchell und Kurt Cobain. Sie testen die Grenzen experimenteller Sounds und schmuddeliger Gitarren, während sie gleichzeitig vertraute Popstrukturen und eingängige Hooks beibehalten. Die Texte sind dabei introspektiv, nachdenklich und in der Realität verankert. Bevor die Debüt-EP All Change im Juni erscheint, gibt es nun die zweite Single daraus bei uns in der Videopremiere: Circles!

Über den Song sagt Sängerin Jana: “I wrote the song when I was 16 and played it for awhile until we ended up recording it at 18 years old. At that point I reworded the song to make it fit with the themes more of the EP. But overall the main idea of the song is still very present. It’s about liking someone and the pain that follows it. Since it’s the first time you’ve ever liked someone there’s an uncertainty as to whether that pain will ever end since you’ve never experienced it before. By the end of the song, I carve a way out for myself, grabbing onto anything to keep my head above water. The main idea behind the video was to keep the camera circling to make the circles image really obvious throughout the video. The other main idea in the video is me on my bike. At the time when I was writing Circles I rode my bike pretty much everyday, the same path each time, which made the shape of a circle. I was both physically and mentally going in circles, so the bike is supposed to be evidence of that”
