Gerade mal 25 Jahre alt, hat sich die britische Künstlerin dodie bereits als Sängerin und Schriftstellerin einen Namen gemacht! Sie hat zwei Top-Ten-EPs herausgebracht, ausverkaufte Headliner-Shows gespielt und ist Botschafterin der Wohltätigkeitsorganisation Unreal, die versucht, das Bewusstsein für Depersonalisation und Derealisationsstörungen zu schärfen. Ihr Debütalbum Build A Problem, das innerhalb der letzten zwei Jahren entstanden ist, hat sie zuletzt schon für den 5. März 2021 angekündigt, nun veröffentlicht sie daraus die erste Single Cool Girl! Diese zeigt die Verletzlichkeit einer jungen Frau, die ihre Geschichte erzählt und nichts verbirgt. Für das Video hat sie mit dem Regisseur Charlie Di Placido (JUNGLE) und der Choreografin Miranda Chambers zusammenarbeitete: “Watching Charlie and Miranda bring an intricate feeling to life was incredibly satisfying and fun – they are a delightful and talented pair. We chose to develop an abstract piece of dance, (book ended by naturalism) to represent the inner but contained conflict of suppressing needs, and remaining “cool”. Miranda and I worked closely on reflecting the frustration and attempted composure of the lyrics in movement – and Charlie, of course, has the perfect eye and soul for group movement, flow and feeling. I hope we make something again! I miss it already!” sagt dodie darüber.
